- We offer first class safe equipment with highly trained trainers and equipment staff. Our training staff in 2010 will be headed by professional health care givers. Dr. Jim Adams, our team Doctor and Dr. Kelly Fleck, our team chiropractor, are available to all our players on a priority basis. Dr. Jim Adams was the Edmonton Eskimo team trainer for many years and is in our opinion the most qualified physician to attend to the needs of players with sports injuries. Dr. Adams and Dr. Fleck make it a priority to treat our players and we are very grateful for their continued professional relationship with us.
- Our training facility is first class with a large clubhouse and a LIGHTED outdoor practice field. Our fall practices are therefore well lighted and safe. Our practice facility has been used by all Sherwood Park high schools as well as some of the Pee Wee and Atom teams during the fall months. In 2003, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated and committed parent volunteer Mr. Scott Hutton, we UPGRADED our lighting. Thank you Mr. Hutton and to his assistants who made it possible. Check out our "virtual clubhouse tour" of our facility so that you may see for yourself!
- Our equipment is properly maintained and replaced regularly with a program in place that ensures only safe, clean and properly fitting equipment is given to our players. We sanitize all our equipment each year through a special process by a local cleaner. Please note the article on "Revolution Helmets" which is on the "What's New" link. These helmets which are worn by our players are among the safest on the market at the present time!
- Our coaching and training staff is COMMITTED to providing the BEST coaching and safest practice/playing environment that a bantam player can receive at this level. Safety is our #1 concern which is why our team has tryouts in May of each year. We want to be certain that football is a good "fit" for your child.
- The RAMS place a high importance on conditioning as part of the game of football. We do not operate a "boot camp" environment. Our team saves time in its practice schedule for conditioning as a well conditioned body is much more resistant to injury. We also condition our players for another very important reason- our players want conditioning as part of their practice schedule! Conditioning helps us to get better!
- Our team does not practice a "win at all cost attitude". All our players see the field during the season but we cannot "guarantee" equal playing time. We prepare to succeed and succeed we have- 12 Division Championships and 10 City Championships in 14 years; 10 Northern Alberta Championships, 9 Provincial championship appearances and 7 Provincial Championships in 16 years! We are the only team in Alberta bantam history to win FOUR CONSECUTIVE championships in 2003,2004,2005 and 2006! We did not achieve these feats without a "team first, family first" environment. Our practice attendance has been over 90% since 1996. By making practices fun, a RAM is happy to come to practice.
- Our team motto says it all-" Respect Attitude Motivation Success". Our players respect each other as equals and display a winning attitude. It is the attitude of a RAM that makes us the envy of other teams and is why we are successful. It is the attitude that you acquire while with us that enables the player and the team to be winners. Winning football games therefore becomes the by-product of the PLAYERS' commitment to excellence. Our parents display that winning attitude as well and it is very common to see many parents at the practice field during the season encouraging their child and the team.
- We also strive to make our players winners off the field. "Football is fun-education is forever!" is our key motto. The RAMS have in place a bursary program that will assist our players as students with the cost of a post secondary education when graduating from high school. Please see our separate bursary link for further information. We are the only bantam team in Canada to offer this program to team alumni!
- You will make new friends while with us and many will be friends for life. Why do we know this? The RAMS are a family and everyone fits in- you, your parents, your grandparents, siblings and even your pets! Many of the team fund raising functions are fun events that do not seem like work. Our fund raising is creative and healthy and is designed to be a strong team building experience.
- The RAMS take great pride in developing our athletes to be good football players so don't let anyone tell you that you are not good enough to try out with us! Just as no returning player is guaranteed a position on the team, no new player is guaranteed a position either. Positions have to be earned and that is another reason why we have a tryout camp. We do know many of you are good enough to make any football team. We hope that you will not be afraid to try out for our team because you will not know how good you are until you try! Please contact Coach Skitsko at 464-6113 for more information. Our coaches and players look forward to meeting you.
