Season Player Awards

At the end of each season, players who have contributed most to the success of the team are given special recognition by the teams and its coaches at the year end banquet. Please note the past winners from 1998 - 2000 that appear on this page.
Description of Awards
Academic Award
To the RAM that has the best overall academic standing at the end of the immediately preceding academic year for that student who must be in Grade 9 in the year of receiving the award.
First Year MVP
To the RAM who is in the first year of football with the RAMS regardless of his previous years of experience.
Heart Trophy
The player that best displays effort and courage throughout the year as chosen by the players and coaches.
Rookie
The player who best displays effort and ability in his FIRST year of COACHED football.
Most Improved
The player who has, in the opinion of his coaches, improved the greatest amount during the year.
Offensive Lineman of the Year
The player on offence occupying an interior line position that performed at a very high level throughout the year.
Defensive Lineman of the Year
The player on defence occupying an interior line position who performed at a very high level during the year.
Special Teams MVP
The player who contributed most consistently at any special teams position.
MVP Offence
The player who was the most valuable contributor to the success of the offence.
MVP Defense
The player who was the most valuable contributor to the success of the defense.
MVP All Around
The player who was most valuable to the team at several positions including special teams.
Most Contribution Least Recognition
The player who in the opinion of the coaches contributed a significant amount to the success of the team without gaining much recognition.
Playoff MVP
Presented to the player that raised his level of play significantly during the playoffs.
Bob Doleman Award
In the name of a coach of the Rams in the 1970's who awarded the player who best demonstrated athletic ability, scholastic achievement, and overall qualities expected of a Ram.
President's Trophy
This is the award that is awarded to the player who is the LEADER of the team in the dressing room and on the field and who sets an example of great leadership.
100% Award
Awarded to players who make every practice, game and team function during the season.

2001
The 2001 edition of the Sherwood Park Rams saw the introduction of 2 new player awards- Defensive Lineman of the Year and the Most Significant Playoff Performance Award. The Defensive Lineman Award will be awarded to compliment the Offensive Lineman of the Year which has been in existence for more that 30 years. The Playoff Award was contributed to the team by the Head Coach, Jim Skitsko, to recognize the player who "stepped up" his game to a new high level during the playoffs.
